Have you heard the Master call, “Come unto Me?” Perhaps you were in a special evangelistic meeting, or maybe sitting on the back seat of a Church building and you heard His call. I’ve met some who heard the call of the Master while sitting alone reading a Bible, or while out and about and someone happened by to tell them of the Gospel, and they heard the call. You who have heard the call know the truth behind the words of the Master. You have experienced His love first hand. When the Master calls, He calls us out of an old life and into a new one. We can all testify to this. The joy was real. The amazing grace was real!
Some reading this today would have to say that what they once had, the first experience of hearing, and answering the call to “Come!” has somehow faded. Through the struggles of life you’ve become disappointed; your expectations all but dashed to the ground. The love and joy you once had remain barely alive in you. You’ve wondered how you ever came to this place. You asked time and again what went wrong? Your struggle with sin has saddened you, and made you doubt and fear if you ever really heard the call in the first place.
The answer to all of this is very simple. All of the confusion compiling over the years can be cleared up immediately! The answer is that you have forgotten about the call to come. The call of the Master to come isn’t for a short term fix. His call is a forever calling. When we answer His call, we will be continually coming. Every day we will come unto Him. You simply wandered away from Him, and forgot to “Come unto Me.” All of the blessings you once knew was due to you having come. When your coming unto Him ceased the joy began to fade, and your love grew cold. You forgot, or didn’t realize, the joy, love, peace, goodness, all was connected to Him. When the Master calls us to come, He intends that we stay in Him. Matthew 11: 28-29, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls…”
All of the blessings you experienced when you first answered the call to come to the Master were all given that you might abide in Him forever. The joy is given to those who will abide. Love is shared with those who will abide with Him. Does it make sense to anyone that God would give away such blessing to those who will not abide with Him? The answer is simple, and fulfilling. The answer is still calling, “Come unto Me!”. Stop wondering and Come unto Him who calls you by name. It’s never too late. You cannot wander too far that His call cannot reach you. If you hear Him today, today is the day to “Come”! It is in His presence that there is fulness of joy, Psalm 16:11, “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever”. Peace is for those who abide with Yeshua, the Prince of Peace. The call to “Come unto Me,” is a call to abide in Him daily. Lay your burden down, and come.
John 15:4“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.”
My fellow sojourners, let me encourage you today to spend time meditating on the Word of God. Focus on the Master, Yeshua. Give Him your full attention. Abide with Him. Listen to His still small voice that can calm any storm. He says to you, “Come”. He says to you, “Abide in Me, and I in you.” May our answer always be, Yes Lord, I come!
